We will meet up at 8:30 am at Plaça de Catalunya in Barcelona and head North to the majestic Pyrenees. Our Pyrenees snowshoeing tour is suitable for a wide public but we require that each client brings a specific set of clothing and footwear to guarantee comfort and safety.
Our first strategic stop for a cup of coffee, bathroom, and snowshoeing gear will be at the Bar Gusi in a small town called Ribes de Freser. This is a well-known meeting hub for famous Catalan mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Barcelona in Winter: Discover the Snowshoeing in the Pyrenees

Depending on the snow conditions we will either go to La Molina ski station or Vallter 2000 ski station in the Catalan Pyrenees. We will pack our backpacks with the last items and head out to enjoy a full day of snowshoeing in the deep Black pine forest, open plains, and steeper ascents to the summits.
We will dedicate a few moments to talk about the correct snowshoeing technique. This outdoor activity requires very little previous experience. Snowshoeing movement is somehow intuitive and natural and you will be surprised how quickly you can master the basis.

Unleashing Your Adventurous Spirit: Barcelona Outdoor

We will track the animal footprints in the snow and your guide will tell you captivating stories about the wildlife present in the Pyrenees. We may be lucky to spot a Roe deer an endemic Pyrenean chamois as we progress toward the summit.
Around lunchtime, we will look for a convenient picnic spot. We will dig into the snow and simply play around to construct a snow shelter, cave, or other snow creation. Our guides will make sure you have the real hands-on experience.

I have never done this before. Can I still participate?

Yes, we believe snowshoeing is a very intuitive and enjoyable activity suitable for a wide range of participants. Although it does require a little bit more effort and balance than ordinary walking your professional mountain guide will instruct you on how to correctly progress with your snowshoes with ease. It is a great way to immerse in the winter wonderland in the Pyrenees.

Where are we going to snowshoe?

Due to the ever-changing winter temperatures and a possible lack of fresh snow, this tour may take place at various destinations in the Catalan Pyrenees. Your guide will notify you a couple of days ahead of your tour to confirm the best place to go snowshoeing.

I do not have winter boots and jacket. Can I rent it?

Unfortunately, we do not provide personal equipment (boots, trousers, jackets, etc.) nor have any available for rent. All participants must bring all recommended items to guarantee their comfort and safety in the high mountains.

Do I need to bring food and water?

Yes, you should bring your packed lunch/sandwich with you. Our guests are also advised to bring some small snacks (dry fruit, nuts, chocolate) to enjoy along the trail. Your guide will provide extra bottled water for each guest and a spice tea to share up in the mountain. It is paramount for all participants to stay hydrated throughout the day in the high mountains.

The weather looks bad. What will happen?

If the weather does not allow the tour to operate according to the pre-planned itinerary you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. At certain times of the year, the weather forecast may change quickly and the tour has to be canceled. We are very sorry for any inconvenience the late cancellation might cause to our guests. We always search for the best solution but safety is our top priority.

Can I get a refund?

Our flexible 24-hour cancellation policy anticipates some unforeseen situations that our guests might experience when traveling to Barcelona. Please get in touch with us ASAP so that we can assist you and find the best solution.
