Our small group Montserrat hiking tour is suitable for a wide public with a generally good fitness level. We will go on the small trails with dense vegetation that will lead us to the best panoramic views around the mountain.
It will require a little bit of effort to reach them but you can simply relax and enjoy the stunning environment as your guide will fine-tune the hike to perfectly match the group’s needs. You can expect to hike anywhere from 3 to 5 hours including breaks.
Along the hiking trails, you will smell and taste aromatic herbs so typical for the Mediterranean. We may spot the Alpine ibex in Montserrat and some birds of prey. But we will certainly stumble across the messy ground where the wild boards were having a feast.
Once back at the Monastery, we will enter the main part of the Basilica which hosts the Black Madonna also called La Moreneta. A wooden carving that has been protecting Catalonia and its people attracts many pilgrims from around the world.
On the way out from the Monastery, we will stop at a small local farmers’ market and try some delicious locally produced cheeses, fig bread, and types of honey. You may enjoy a short nap in the car after this full-day Montserrat hiking tour.

This is a small group hiking experience and your guide will adjust the trail itinerary accordingly to make sure everyone is having a great time. You can expect to hike anywhere from 3 to 5 hours including short breaks. The trails are varied with stairs, loose pebbles, dirt forest tracks etc. Please remember to wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes for this tour.
You will try small samplings of various locally produced goat, sheep, and cow cheeses, fig bread, and the fresh cow milk cheese called mató with your choice of honey.
If the weather does not allow the tour to operate according to the pre-planned itinerary you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. At certain times of the year, the weather forecast may change quickly and the tour has to be canceled. We are very sorry for any inconvenience the late cancellation might cause to our guests. Yes, our clients are always advised to bring some small snacks or fruit to enjoy up in the mountains. There are cafeterias and a small grocery shop in Montserrat to buy some last-minute snacks before starting the hiking experience. We will provide 2x 0.5l bottled water for all participants to stay hydrated throughout the day.
