Breathtaking Coastal Trails to Explore in Costa Brava

Our full-day Costa Brava beach tour involves trail hiking on small paths that wind up and down the rugged Costa Brava coastline. This is a genuine outdoor experience from Barcelona for anyone wishing to fully explore the corners of Costa Brava in a single day, on the land and in the sea.

Our coastal explorations will start at rocky Cala Morisca in Canyelles urbanization near Lloret de Mar. The total 6.5 km (4 miles) hiking distance includes 260 m of elevation gain on varied terrains of sand, rocks, and forest dirt tracks. This outdoor experience in Costa Brava is generally suitable for active people. Comfortable walking shoes with ankle support are necessary for the trails.

The Best Time of Year for Snorkeling Adventures in Costa Brava

When crossing several beautiful small to medium-sized inlets and bays called ‘Calas’  your experienced guide will provide you with snorkeling gear. Follow your guide to find underwater crevices and boulders, common places where we can look at some exciting marine life.

The swimming portion of this tour usually begins in mid-May and runs up to the end of October. Please note that we do not provide any wetsuits or rush guard t-shirts but you are welcome to bring your gear.

Discovering Tossa de Mar with Classic Traditional Dishes

We will be in the protected natural area called Cadiretes massif. It is one of the best examples of the authentic granitic landscape in Costa Brava with dense vegetation of cork oak, holm oak, and various species of pines. Your guide will point out loads of interesting plants and talk about biodiversity conservation along the trail.

Reaching La Paciencia viewpoint means almost arriving in the picturesque medieval town of Tossa de Mar. You will feast on a well-earned 3-course lunch in a quaint restaurant. Please advise us about any dietary concerns when booking this tour.

Finally, you will also have enough free time to explore Tossa de Mar on your own or complement this marvelous Costa Brava tour with a relaxing nap on the beach.

We will return to the Barcelona center at 6 pm latest.

Are we going to see some fish while snorkeling in the sea?

Yes, the Mediterranean Sea is famous for its clear blue waters almost all year round. Your guide will take you out along the rocks and show you the right spots. You will most likely bump into some seabreams, porgies, schools of damselfish, or thick lip mullets. There are other sea creatures that you will certainly meet while snorkeling with your guide.

What is the sea temperature throughout the year?

The temperature of the Mediterranean Sea in Costa Brava fluctuates throughout the year.

13°C – 15°C Celsium from December to April

17°C – 21°C Celsium for May, October and November

21°C – 25°C Celsium from June to September

Do I need to bring food and water?

Yes, our clients are always advised to bring some small snacks or fruit to enjoy along the trail. After our arrival to Tossa de Mar you will enjoy ‘menu del dia’ (traditional 3-course lunch menu) in the town. We will also provide two 0.5l bottled water for all participants to stay hydrated throughout the day.

If the weather does not allow the tour to operate according to the pre-planned itinerary you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. At certain times of the year, the weather forecast and the sea conditions may change quickly and the tour has to be canceled. We are very sorry for any inconvenience a late cancellation might cause to our guests. We always search for the best solution but safety is our top priority.

Can we do a shorter hike and spend more time swimming?

Yes, we do have this option for a private tour. However, on the small group tour (max 8 guests per guide) we follow the pre-designed itinerary of the tour to meet all expectations unless there is a consensus amongst all guests to adjust the hiking part.
