We will meet at the Playa de San Sebastián in front of Club Natación Barcelona for this 3-hour Barcelona kayaking experience with tapas tastings. Our meeting place is very close to the W Hotel at the Playa de San Sebastián. Please arrive 15 minutes early to get changed and store your belongings in the club.

Family-Friendly Barcelona: Kayaking Tours for Beginners and Kids

This beginner and kid-friendly kayaking activity in Barcelona does not require any previous practice or a particular set of skills. If you bring your motivation your guide will make sure you learn ‘step-by-step’ the very basics of using your kayaking paddle, navigating, and maneuvering.

We do have one important requirement though. You must be a confident swimmer in the sea. We wear life vests or PFDs but it is essential to know how to swim if you want to join our kayaking experience in Barcelona.

We assess the sea conditions, Beaufort Wind Scale, and other factors but throughout the year we have to face some unpredictable weather conditions, changing water levels, and wind directions. Thus, occasionally we are forced to cancel our kayaking activity in Barcelona.

Barcelona on the Water: Skyline Kayaking Experience

As we start kayaking along Barcelona’s beachfront your guide will point out some fascinating city architecture that underlines Catalan modernism as an artistic and social movement trying to revindicate the Catalan identity in Sapin.

You will be told the Barcelona’s Summer Olympics (1992) success story. These games have completely transformed the industrial face of the city, the transportation system, and the quality of lifestyle for many residents of Barcelona. According to some, this was the pivotal point for Barcelona to become – Guapa!

After reaching the Olympic Port we will do a U-turn and start making our way back. There will be a moment to enjoy a nice Mediterranean dip on the way back.

Taste of Tradition: Authentic Tapas in Barcelona

We will get showered, bring your spare clothes, etc, dried and ready to walk into the heart of La Barceloneta neighborhood to enjoy some delicious tapas. Your guide will provide a holistic overview of the most traditional food in Barcelona, seafood and paella variations, and tips for great restaurants you should visit while on holiday in Barcelona. The sunrise Barcelona kayaking experience includes tapas or a light brunch in a quaint restaurant.

FAQs

Do I need to know how to swim?

Yes, we do require that all participants can swim in the sea without a lifevest. Hence we reserve the right to refuse one’s participation in the kayaking portion of the tour if proven to the contrary.

Is this experience suitable for beginners and children?

Yes, we use both sit-on-top double kayaks and single kayaks which provide good stability and decent maneuverability and are perfect for anyone to try kayaking for the first time. Your guide will show you all the important details about the kayaks and demonstrate how to correctly paddle. You will intuitively learn to handle the paddle and your kayak as we depart away from the beach.

What is included in the tapas tastings?

After the kayaking, your guide will take you to one of our favorite traditional tapa bars in La Barceloneta where you will get a drink of your choice (a glass of wine, beer, vermouth, etc,.) and share a yummy selection of the most typical tapas in your group. Please advise us about any dietary restrictions in advance so that we can make the best choice for you.

The weather looks bad. What will happen?

If the weather does not allow the tour to operate according to the pre-planned itinerary you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. At certain times of the year, the weather forecast and the sea conditions may change quickly and the tour has to be canceled. We are very sorry for any inconvenience a late cancellation might cause to our guests. We always search for the best solution but safety is our top priority.

Do we have a place to store our bags and valuables?

Yes, we will store all our belongings in the kayaking base near the beach. There are multiple units available to put swim clothes on, get a warm shower after kayaking, and use a hair dryer. We recommend our guests bring a set of dry clothes to be comfortable during the tapas tasting session afterward.
